Happy Winter Solstice and Bright Blessings for a new solar year! The Sun has reached its lowest point in the Southern sky (here in the Northern Hemisphere) and will begin ascending, bringing more light each day. For earth / nature spiritualists this transition is celebrated as the beginning of the new calendar year, with Solstice eve being equivalent to New Years eve on the Gregorian calendar. It’s a time to reflect on the past year, cherish what you have today, and make resolutions for the coming year.
The Winter Solstice marks the first day of winter and the beginning of Capricorn season. A time to strive for high aspirations and take a grand view of the structures in our lives. The astrological sign of Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the great timekeeper, who namesake is derived from the Greek deity “Chronos”, or “Father Time”. Saturn is moving into some major alignments in 2020: the “Great Conjunction” with Jupiter at next year’s Winter Solstice, and a revolutionary transit with Pluto in January. These transits have some very interesting historical references that deserve their own dedicated blog post. Check back at the beginning of January for an in-depth look at the upcoming transits that will be shaping the energy for 2020.
We hope you have a wonderful Winter Solstice, a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and a Blessed Holiday Season!
